In the past, investments were attracted to things that had interest, dividends, and profits, causing their prices to rise and buyers to be found. However, now it is not enough to have just those goals, and efforts are being made to prevent investments from coming in. As a result, the direction of companies that attract money may change, and they are trying to change the destination.
In the past, managers and investors who only considered Corporate Management based on profitability may not understand the meaning of this. It may seem like just a superficial attempt to align with ideals, questioning whether it has any meaning. However, the intention is to correct the measurement of this form of capitalism, which has been solely based on ROE. To deny ESG is to prioritize the financial returns Capitalism and ignore the inconvenient truths of the planet, the environment, and working conditions. It is important to recognize that it is at the core of the significant waves of capitalism.
